Kudos to Noel Kehrt and Paul Vieira – and the whole LAMBA gang on the success of your inaugural Squaw Creek event! Your effort and hard work is to be commended for what you bring to the Iowa mountain biking community!
71 racers toed the line to race the excellent new trail system for 4 hours in beautiful spring temperatures, with perfect dirt conditions, flow, sunshine, post-race food and a very well run event. It was great to see new faces, familiar faces, and the return of some faces who haven’t raced in a year or two.
Pinch yourselves everyone, because mountain biking and racing is alive and well in our fair state of Iowa!
Bringing back the Sylvan Island Stampede to the IMBCS roster was a fantastic way to kick off the 2018 season! We had a little bit of leftovers from winter with an overnight freeze and chilly temps, but the riders came out in force. IMBCS would like to thank all the members of FORC for getting this track ready for our season opener and all the trail gnomes who helped. It was a great day!
“The Stampede course was riding really good today! Still some soft/greasy spots, especially in the morning, from the overnight freeze but trails were firming up by early afternoon.” said FORC in a facebook post.
