First Race of the Year Under Our Belt

Bringing back the Sylvan Island Stampede to the IMBCS roster was a fantastic way to kick off the 2018 season! We had a little bit of leftovers from winter with an overnight freeze and chilly temps, but the riders came out in force. IMBCS would like to thank all the members of FORC for getting this track ready for our season opener and all the trail gnomes who helped. It was a great day!

“The Stampede course was riding really good today! Still some soft/greasy spots, especially in the morning, from the overnight freeze but trails were firming up by early afternoon.” said FORC in a facebook post.

Sylvan Island Stampede X – 2018 IMBCS Season Opener

It’s BACK!! – Sylvan Island Stampede X

The 10th running of the Sylvan Island Stampede will be opening both the 2018 IMBCS and the Illinois State Championship Race Series.

Course Information

Race is Rain or shine since the island dries quickly. The course will consist of a 4 mile loop of closely spaced, tight, and twisty island singletrack. Rocks, roots, concrete rubble, bricks, old building foundations, and slag debris will be the norm for most trails on the island. There isn’t much elevation change but lots of tight corners mean short punchy efforts. Do your interval training! Preriding the course is recommended to get familiar with passing areas (there aren’t many).
